Tashka Trail 50k

Race Start 31 degrees!! Me in the red Swiftwick shirt Black shorts/Green shoes

Simple race report; Traveled down to Tuscaloosa on Friday afternoon. Got my race number and swag and settled in for the evening. Saturday morning I was greeted with a crisp but beautiful day for a race. Tashka 50k is a 2 lap race around the beautiful lake Lurleen. I made my around the lake for the first lap in 2:08 after a quick stop at the car to refuel. After some how finding my way into the top 5 runners I put in an honest effort to stay there. I ran in 2nd for a lot of the 2nd lap but was over taken by a stronger runner on the day. After chasing him for muck of the the last 1/3 of the race I finally made my way down the sweet single track to finish in 4:27 and 3rd place. The course was hilly and runnable and a perfect venue for an ultra. I couldn't have ask for a better day out there.
