Night snow run!

Last night at about 9pm I decided I would go out for a nice short run in the snow. Earlier that evening a small snow storm dumped a little over 3" of snow in Pleasant View. This would render most to the treadmill or cycling trainer, but for me I saw it as an opportunity to enjoy the fresh soft snow and be truly alone in night. So I threw on some warm clothes and headlamp and hit the road. After the short steep climb out of my neighborhood and through the next I quickly gained a rhythm with the sound of snow beneath my feet and my own breathing. After about a mile I was pushing on to the next wanting more and more. While I was laying fresh tracks in the snow I wondered why more people don't enjoy the tranquility of the night? It truly is a great time to really relax and erase the stresses a full day can bring. I however was not alone as a happy black lab buzzed my right leg and then ran circles in the snow. It was good to know I wasn't the only one world happy to be out playing in the snow. He then ran with me back to my door step and simple turned around and made his way back up the hill and out of site. I look forward to our next meeting! In the end I had a great short 4 mile run and it was a great way to end the evening. I have now truly embraced winter and all that comes with it. Most of the time I hate the snow and cold weather, but I think I found something peaceful and raw about it and I look my next snow run, perhaps tomorrow.
