Just a quick post on what could be my next shoe. I have been wearing the Brooks Cascadia range for the last 3/4 years and while they are great, I sometimes feel that I maybe missing the boat when looking at the newest lightweight trail shoes on the market. From what I have read the New Balance MT101 is a little of both worlds. Those worlds being the Minimalist world and the True trail shoe world. In a way it makes since to have a lightweight shoe, I mean why would I want to carry around, say an extra 4 oz's per shoe in this case. Or does this set me up for wrecking my feet over 50k-50 miles? both good questions and 2 questions I may be answering soon. The New Balance MT101 was designed with input from Anton Krupicka and the Skaggs Bros, 3 very fast and Elite ultrarunners. The MT101 was updated from the MT100 which had a few hiccups but nothing to crazy, they kept the sole and Rock Stop in the forefoot for added protection, from what I have read it is a little heavier than the MT100 but hey it's still less than 8 ounces! It was also updated with added lateral support and a more material on the tongue. All in all this shoe seems to rock and I can't to put it to the test. I will follow up with a review as soon as they have been put through a few long trail runs.
