Notes: This past week could have been the best week I have put in since,,,, well ever actually. I had 6 great workouts and each had purpose. While I missed doing a hill workout, my long trail run Saturday made up for that. I had a super good tempo lap workout on Thursday and nice shakeout on Friday. I haven't talked much about our Saturday trail runs, but basically we get on the trail super early as in around 4:50/5:00 AM and get in about an
hour and a half of night running which is fun! At the Warner Parks we have no less than 20 miles of trail to choose from so we just get out and get after it. Most recently we've been hitting the trail that we honed our fitness on last year. While this trail is not as challenging as the Red trail it is longer and still offers 2 big hills, 1 steep "wall" and a final long gradual climb back. I feel that this trail offers the best terrain for my next race. What I mean this is the only trail in the park that isn't just up and down, up and down. So you can get in a groove and really get the legs turning over. At any rate for Saturday's run, Hawk and I hit out to do 3 laps on the "Forest Hill Trail" and 1 lap of the "White Trail" which ended up being a great long run, we cruised the first loop and ran a solid steady pace for the 2nd loop and hammered the 3rd loop. After an uneventful White trail loop I was finished and was happy with my days work. Saturdays 22.5 miler gave me an idea of my current fitness and what I need to work on going forwards. I am now about 9 weeks out from my race and I think I'm right where I want to be. I now look to continue building my form and just enjoy the ride. Till next time get out there.
